We all start somewhere
Do you ever just wish you were someone else? Do you wish you had their skill or talent? We all have those thoughts, and we limit ourselves to believing that we can't strive for more. But what if we look back at where we started? Whether it's with a sport or other skills, we all began at the basics. We knew nothing at one point, and look at us now! I think it's always important to look back occasionally, just so we can see that we are making progress. We are all on different paths and go at different speeds, and that is okay.
Let me show you where I started:
First Ever Attempt
This was my first ever attempt at a black background...yikes! I did it directly in the sunlight, a big mistake. But I didn't know, I was just learning as I went. I had a camera and a passion. That's all you need to start, and from there you can build. I know I'm talking about photography for myself, but it can be anything.
Let's see how I did after this.
Improvement: Starting point to get better
Already better because I'm not in direct sunlight! I'm getting just enough light for the photo. But let's take a look at my editing...not great but not awful. The background and floor blending are pretty bad. The mane and tail seem non-existent. The editing is very harsh compared to what the horse looks like. But I started doing it. Just starting something will allow us to be able to then get better. We learn from the good and bad, the wins and mistakes.
Where I am Now
This is what time does. It improves us. I kept working at it. Did so many photoshoots of horses to get the practice and kept improving with each time, even if it was small. I'm still learning, and I think we continue to forever learn. I truly think we can never say we are perfect. We can't, and that's okay. Letting go of perfectionism is hard, but it's possible to let it be background noise.
