Before I got into Photography
Growing up, I participated in various sports, including swimming, basketball, softball, and soccer. One summer, a trail ride sparked my interest in horses. Afterward, I begged my parents for riding lessons. Soon, I was riding horses weekly, then, just three months later, we bought a horse, and I visited the barn almost daily. I quickly fell in love with horses. Working with them was unlike anything I had done. Communicating with an animal that doesn’t speak your language is challenging, but I was determined to learn how to do so.

When I started Photography
My mom was into photography, so she had all of this equipment. I’m not sure how it ended up happening, but on vacation, I once used one of her cameras. It was just very random nature shots. But obviously, something about it stood out to me. I continued to take photos at any chance I could. It began to be of animals, such as my cats and dog. I loved taking photos of flowers; color was something interesting for me to play with. Eventually, at one horse show, I brought a camera and took photos of horses. Then I constantly had my camera with me. I would bring it to the barn and take photos of lessons, random moments in the barn, and anything.
How I got into Black Background and Portraits
One day, I wanted to play around with different kinds of shots of horses. I was obsessed with photos I would see on instagram of black backgrounds and said to myself, “I want to do that with my horses”. Well lets say they were not awful, but there was definitely room for improvement. I’m not sure how many horses I took photos of until I finally figured out how to edit them better and what shots to get. It just took time and practice. Over the years, I have been extremely grateful for all of the clients I’ve worked with and the support around starting my business!
